A 31-year-old man allegedly bludgeoned his co-worker to death with a sledgehammer at their workplace earlier this week.

On Wednesday, Jan. 18, shortly before 7 a.m., Hollywood Police officers responded to marine and energy manufacturing company Wärtsilä, WTVJ-TV reports. There, officers reportedly found the victim in a pool of blood, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bryan Menocal allegedly hit the victim in the head repeatedly with a large sledgehammer.

Police told WPLG-TV that Menocal eventually admitted to killing his co-worker, Ferdinand “Andy” Williams, following an argument at Wärtsilä. Another employee reportedly saw Menocal walk into their facility with the sledgehammer and leave.

According to WPLG, Broward County Sheriff’s deputies found Menocal outside his apartment, and he was taken into custody. He was booked into the Broward County Jail for second-degree murder without bond, records show.

Williams reportedly leaves behind his wife, three children, and other family members.

A spokesperson for Wärtsilä told WPLG that the company was “very saddened” to learn of the incident.
