Gavin Caci

A Las Vegas nightclub promoter has pleaded not guilty to DUI and hit-and-run charges after a shocking crash near the Las Vegas Strip that left a mother and her toddler seriously injured. The terrifying moment was even captured by the driver’s own Tesla cameras.

Prosecutors say 28-year-old Gavin Caci was behind the wheel of a gray 2026 Tesla Model Y around 7:35 p.m. on February 8 when the crash happened near Harmon Avenue and Audrie Lane, just east of the Strip.

According to investigators, Caci allegedly veered onto a sidewalk and slammed into a family of three who were walking nearby. During the impact, a toddler sitting in a stroller was reportedly launched into the air.

Video obtained by local outlet 8 News Now shows multiple camera angles recorded by the Tesla itself. Authorities say the footage appears to show the car driving onto the sidewalk, crashing into a vehicle, and then striking the pedestrians.

Police say a preliminary blood test taken less than two hours after the crash showed Caci’s blood-alcohol level was 0.22. In Nevada, the legal limit is 0.08, meaning prosecutors claim he was nearly three times over the limit.

The victims were a family visiting from the United Kingdom for a wedding in Las Vegas.

The 38-year-old father later told a grand jury that the impact sent him flying through the air.

“I got thrown into the air, landed on my right side,” he said, according to transcripts. “I had pain in my elbow, my hip, and my back.”

He said the most terrifying moment came when he turned around and saw his wife lying on the ground.

“By the time I’d come back to see my wife, she was lying on the floor not moving,” he told jurors. “She had a huge lump on the side of her head and was bleeding. She was confused and kept asking what happened. She wasn’t making much sense and couldn’t move.”

Prosecutors say the 2-year-old child was thrown from the stroller and slammed into a nearby pole during the crash.

Both the toddler and the child’s 32-year-old mother were rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. They have since been treated and have returned home to the United Kingdom.

The family has now filed a lawsuit against Caci and Tesla Lease Trust, claiming the company should have known he was likely to operate the vehicle in an unsafe or reckless manner.

Their attorney, Al Lasso, said the family plans to let the legal system handle the case moving forward.

“They trust that the justice system will speak for them as the case proceeds,” Lasso said in a statement. “They believe it’s important for the facts to be addressed in the proper forum rather than through public commentary.”

Caci is scheduled to go on trial April 13. He has been released on $100,000 bail but must wear an alcohol monitor and remain confined to his home until the case is resolved.

According to police documents, Caci told officers the night of the crash that he had been drinking tequila at a nightclub but could not remember which one.

Records also show the crash was not his first run-in with law enforcement. In December 2025, police cited him for speeding after an officer estimated he was driving about 70 mph in a 45 mph zone.

Authorities say Caci had also previously received tickets for causing a crash in 2023 and for speeding again in 2024.
