An Ohio mother is facing disturbing allegations after authorities say she was caught injecting fecal matter into her own child’s IV line at a hospital.

According to reports, hospital staff alerted police on February 8 after they allegedly saw the woman, identified as Le Sueur, injecting what they believed to be human waste into the child’s IV.

Investigators say surveillance footage showed her going into a bathroom with a cup before later placing what appeared to be fecal matter into a syringe. She then allegedly injected it into the IV line connected to her child’s left hand.

The allegations have shocked the community and raised serious concerns about possible medical child abuse.

In past cases, injecting fecal matter into IV lines has been linked to Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a mental health disorder in which a caregiver fabricates or induces illness in a child to gain attention or sympathy.

Similar cases have surfaced before.

In 2015, an Ohio mother was sentenced to six years in prison after admitting she injected fecal matter into her 9-year-old son’s IV at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. She later claimed she did it to push doctors to change her son’s treatment plan.

In another case in Indiana, a mother was convicted after injecting feces into her teenage son’s IV bag while he was undergoing leukemia treatment. The boy developed severe infections and had to be placed on a ventilator.

A separate case in Texas involved a mother who was accused of smearing fecal matter on her young daughter’s IV feeding line at a children’s hospital.

Authorities have not released additional details about the current Ohio case as the investigation continues.
