A California middle school teacher has been placed on administrative leave after a disturbing video surfaced showing him allegedly urinating into a container inside a classroom shortly before students arrived.

The footage, first obtained by The Sacramento Bee, reportedly shows a male teacher standing at the front of a classroom before unbuttoning his pants. According to reports, he appears to relieve himself into a container just out of the camera’s view.

In the video, the man can allegedly be heard saying, “Gosh, that’s good,” several times during the incident.

Moments later, students begin entering the classroom.

The teacher has been identified by students as Dan Champ, a history teacher and Associated Student Body adviser at Granite Oaks Middle School in Rocklin, California.

After the video began circulating, families were notified that the employee had been placed on leave while the district investigates the situation.

In a message sent to parents, school officials said they were made aware of the video after the school day ended.

“This afternoon, after school dismissal, a parent and a staff member informed the school administration of a video showing an employee engaging in conduct inconsistent with our professional standards,” the message stated.

Officials also clarified that the video does not appear to involve any students or other staff members.

“While the unverified video does not involve any students or staff, the employee has been placed on leave while Granite Oaks Middle School and the Rocklin Unified School District investigate the incident,” the statement continued.

School administrators added that the situation is being taken seriously and will be handled according to district policies and legal procedures.

Some students who learned about the video said the incident left them feeling uneasy.

One student told The Sacramento Bee the situation made them uncomfortable knowing they had recently been in the classroom.

“It personally makes me feel disgusted knowing that I was in the room prior to him doing that near the spot where I used to sit,” the student said.

It remains unclear who recorded the video or why it was filmed at that time.

Reaction from parents has been mixed. Some questioned the teacher’s actions, while others raised concerns about students secretly recording teachers inside classrooms.

One parent wrote online that the video appeared “really strange,” adding that it seemed like the teacher had enough time to step out and use the restroom.

Another parent questioned why a student would be secretly filming a teacher alone in the classroom in the first place.

School officials have not released further details as the investigation continues.
