A shocking family tragedy is unfolding in Texas after police say a young man admitted to killing his own grandmother—and what allegedly sparked it has left neighbors stunned.

Rontrell Jackson, 21, was arrested after authorities responded to a disturbing call on Friday afternoon in Arlington. A family member reported finding the 68-year-old woman lying unresponsive on her apartment patio, covered with a blanket.

When first responders arrived, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

As detectives began piecing together what happened, they uncovered a heated argument between Jackson and his grandmother earlier that day. According to police, the dispute was over something as small as his allowance.

Investigators say Jackson later confessed to shooting his grandmother inside the apartment before dragging her body outside onto the patio and covering it with a blanket.

Police also recovered a firearm believed to be the weapon used in the killing.

Jackson has been charged with murder and is currently being held on a $750,000 bond.

Neighbors in the area say they are still trying to process the devastating news.

“For someone to lose their life over an allowance, over a disagreement—that’s the part that’s hard to understand,” one neighbor said.

The case has left a community shaken, highlighting just how quickly a family dispute can turn deadly
