A Brooklyn, NY man is recovering in the hospital after a shocking assault in Brownsville, authorities said Friday. Around 5:20 a.m. on October 15, a woman reportedly poured hot cooking oil on the 38-year-old victim inside a home near East 94th Street and Winthrop Street.
The man sustained severe burns on his chest, arms, and legs, leaving investigators struggling to communicate with him, police sources said. He was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital in critical but stable condition.
Police said the suspect, a woman in her 30s, appears to have had a personal relationship with the victim. She fled the scene on foot and remains at large.
The NYPD has released surveillance footage showing the woman walking near a Brooklyn home or business wearing dark pants and a dark top. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or 1-888-57-PISTA (74782) for Spanish speakers.
The department is urging anyone who recognizes the suspect or has details about the incident to come forward as the search continues.
