A Wisconsin mother’s death is sending shockwaves through Milwaukee after investigators revealed the horrifying extent of the violence she suffered.

Authorities say 41-year-old Janie Pendleton was found dead inside a Milwaukee home on March 13, sparking a homicide investigation. While police did not publicly identify her in their initial statement, local outlets and tributes shared online confirmed Pendleton was the victim.

At first, investigators believed Pendleton had been stabbed more than 20 times. But according to a search warrant affidavit cited by WISN, an autopsy later revealed a far more gruesome reality: she had been stabbed 107 times.

Even more chilling, officials determined Pendleton had been dead for several days before her body was discovered.

A detective also noted in the affidavit that Pendleton’s right forearm appeared to have a distinct shoe pattern on it, adding another disturbing detail to the case as investigators work to piece together what happened in her final moments.

According to reports, authorities were also granted permission to search the home of a man who knew Pendleton and allegedly gave police inconsistent information. The outlet did not identify the man because he has not been named as a suspect.

As the investigation unfolds, loved ones are mourning a woman whose social media showed a deep love for her children, her family, and herself.

In one selfie posted to Facebook on February 24, Pendleton wrote, “I love me so much.”

After her death, her daughter shared a heartbreaking photo of the two of them together and wrote, “Forever us.”

Now, a family is left grieving as police continue to search for answers in a case that has stunned the community.

The investigation remains ongoing. Milwaukee police are urging anyone with information to call 414-935-7360. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS or through the P3 Tips app.
