A woman who posed as an online escort and her male accomplice have pleaded guilty in a chilling poison plot that left two men dead and two others lucky to survive.

Adina Mihai, 31, and Madalin Dumitru, 30, entered guilty pleas at Oxford Crown Court in England after prosecutors said they targeted men who were seeking sexual services.

The pair pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the deaths of 37-year-old Gary Mouat in 2025 and 80-year-old Malcolm King in 2024, according to Thames Valley Police and Gloucestershire Constabulary.

They also pleaded guilty to two counts each of administering poison.

Police said the scheme unfolded between August 2024 and July 2025. According to investigators, Mihai would arrange to meet men at their homes after she and Dumitru had already taken financial deposits from them.

Once inside, police said, the victims’ drinks were secretly spiked with GBL, a substance that converts into GHB once inside the body. Investigators said the drug was used to knock the men unconscious so the pair could steal from them.

Mouat was found dead at his home in Banbury on July 13, 2025. Police said the drug had been added to his alcoholic drink.

After Mouat’s death, Thames Valley Police issued a national bulletin to other law enforcement agencies asking them to look into similar unexplained deaths.

That led Gloucestershire Constabulary to take another look at the death of Malcolm King, who died on Aug. 21, 2024. His death had originally been attributed to a pre-existing health condition, but investigators later connected it to the same alleged poisoning scheme.

Police also uncovered two additional victims across the south of England who survived after being poisoned.

Mihai and Dumitru were arrested on July 31, 2025.

Detective Inspector Adam Stacey, senior investigating officer with Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Major Crime Investigation Unit, said the evidence against the pair was overwhelming.

“The tireless work of all those involved in the joint investigation left Mihai and Dumitru with little choice but to plead guilty to manslaughter and administering poison in the face of overwhelming evidence,” Stacey said.

Mihai and Dumitru are now awaiting sentencing.
