The shooting reportedly took place at a South Carolina Walmart. Aiken County Department of Public Safety began to receive calls around 7:30 pm that an active shooter was in the area.
A witness spoke with the news outlet, WJBF and said a man just came out of no where and randomly shot the young girl.
“She was with her mom she was actually looking at a pair of shorts and out of nowhere a guy just walked up and shot her and it actually went through her arm and into her abdomen,” Kari Johnson told WJBF.
According to the report, Stephen Foreman, 32, was taken into custody and authorities also said they believe the man had no relationship to the victim and this was just a random act of violence.
The Augusta Press identified the victim as Ashton Rickard. Her aunt, Jamie Hammons, said she was shot at point-blank range and has already had one surgery.
Hammons said on Facebook she may need more surgery.
According to Rickard’s mother, Ashley Rickard, Ashton the bullet is lodged in her back and broke her arm. Foreman has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.
Augusta Press also revealed more shocking details about the suspect saying, In May 2019, Foreman was charged with kidnapping and weapon possession for allegedly tying up his brother and parents in their home on Interlachen Court.
The older brother said Foreman came out of his bedroom with a sawed-off shotgun and ordered his brother and parents to the corner of the living room.
“The younger brother (Forman) threw some black tape to his older brother and told him to tie up his parents while pointing the gun at his brother.
The older brother taped up the leg of his parents and then his legs before the younger brother taped up his older brother’s hands.
The younger brother was going on about robbing a bank and other ‘jibberish’ and other nonsense.” According to the report.
The family reportedly got out of the rape and was able to run to the woods and call 911 for help. Once authorities arrived on the scene Forman surrendered.
He reportedly had four firearms and many rounds of ammunition that were seized.
If the cops were worth anything, the shooter would be dead by now!
