A suspect is reportedly in critical condition after being hit by a car on I-94 while fleeing police Monday afternoon.
A 25-year-old man who was wanted for stealing from a convenience store allegedly resisted police and then ran in front of traffic on I-94 highway while trying to escape, according to a report from Fox 2 in Detroit.
Police officials say the suspect hopped a fence and ran onto the freeway, according to the report.
An officer chasing the man said the driver “had no chance” to avoid hitting the suspect, according to the report.
Family members arrived to help the driver, who police described as “very emotional for obvious reasons”.
The suspect was reportedly taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
