A man was left critically injured after being struck by a car, beaten with a baseball bat and stabbed in a wild, caught-on-camera ordeal in the middle of an upstate New York street over the weekend, police said.
The chaotic chain of events unfolded in Poughkeepsie on Sunday afternoon after two speeding vehicles sparked a wrong-way crash that ended with two men brawling and another wielding a shotgun.
Investigators, who are still trying to piece together the violent scene, said the two cars had been flying down Pershing Avenue Park in the wrong direction just after 3 p.m. when they collided with two people and another vehicle.
One of the victims struck by a car was subsequently stabbed and hit with the baseball bat, police said.
Bystander footage posted on social media showed a man striking the victim, who was dressed in black, repeatedly with the bat.
At one point, the alleged attacker was caught on camera punching the victim as he shouted, “What the f–k is wrong with you? Are you f–king stupid?”
It wasn’t immediately clear when the victim was stabbed.
Elsewhere in the video, the other injured man, dressed in a green T-shirt, could be seen lying in the street covered in blood as the violence unfolded around him.
Meanwhile, footage aired by News12 showed another man in the background stalking the street with a shotgun.
The relationship among those involved in the incident wasn’t immediately known. It also wasn’t clear if the two men struck by the vehicles were targeted or if the male with the gun was involved in any way.
Two men — Rakim Paulin, 43, of Beacon and Jeremy Taylor, 40, of Poughkeepsie — were arrested and charged with assault in the wake of the horrific ordeal, police said.
The stabbing victim was rushed to the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in a critical condition, according to cops.
The other person who was struck by one of the vehicles was also taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.
Police said the probe is ongoing and have called on witnesses who may have filmed the ordeal to come forward.

So what I see is two black men one with a shotgun and one beating a white guy. If this was the other way around all we would hear is that it’s a racist attack. I guess it’s different when white people are being beaten and stabbed. Completely pathetic, I do wonder if those doing the attacking will be charged or just let off.
