A Colorado teenager who allegedly shot a woman in the head with an AR-15 three years ago made his first court appearance on Friday since a judge ruled that he’d be tried as an adult, according to local news reports.
Remi Cordova, now 17, is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with the fatal shooting of Pam Cabriales.
Cordova allegedly shot her up to 20 times on the night of February 20, 2021, while she was en route home from dinner. While driving, she accidentally hit the back of a car Cordova was in with her car, prompting him to exit the vehicle, local NBC affiliate KUSA reported.
That’s when he allegedly pulled out the AR-15 and shot her in the head.
Cabriales, 32, died from her injuries.
“She was extremely giving, passionate, loving,” Cabriales’ brother, Alex, previously told KUSA. “She deeply, deeply cared about other people. She was a social butterfly. If you needed something, she was there for you.”

Prosecutors said in December that Cordova would be tried as an adult, a decision that was praised by Cabriales’ family.
“He wants to commit adult crimes, he needs adult time,” Alex told KUSA.
“Remi Cordova is an extremely dangerous, dangerous person,” he added. “He showed no remorse in court. For him to have blown my sister’s head off, basically the whole top of it from here up – she had no skull. It’s extremely cowardly what he did. Horrific. Cowardly. Cordova is in custody until his next hearing, local Fox affiliate KDVR reported.
“I think the judges, regarding this case, are making the right decision,” Alex said outside the courthouse on Friday, according to KDVR. “They’re doing their job. Our communities can be safer with him in jail.”
Cordova’s next court appearance is on January 25. If convicted as an adult, he could face up to 40 years in prison.

So my question is where were this 14 year old’s parents? Probably had no idea where he was or who he was with. I think these parents need to be held accountable as well, they aren’t doing what they are supposed to be. So sick of these losers raising losers and turning them lose on society.
If I had a chance to speak to the judge in this case, I’d say: 40 years in prison is insufficient. He took a life, and a mother from her family. Life without parole, would be justified, but yes, I think the execution is justified even moreso.
