A decomposing corpse was found stashed in a trash can inside a Bronx apartment over the weekend after a putrid smell led authorities to the gruesome find, police and sources said.

The unidentified body was discovered wrapped in a plush fabric, stuffed in the garbage inside a fifth-floor apartment on East 179th Street near Mapes Avenue in the Crotona neighborhood when police responded around 2 p.m. Saturday, sources said.

A bystander smelled a foul odor when they walked past the apartment and called 911, cops said.

Officers needed to enter through the fire escape to access the apartment, sources said.

EMS workers responded and pronounced the person dead at the scene.

The death is being investigated as suspicious, because of how the body was found, sources said.

The city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will officially determine the person’s cause of death.

  1. These stories are a constant reminder of why the threat of “Life in prison without the chance of Parole” isn’t working.
PUBLIC EXEUCUTIONS would work…. but then the AMERICAN judicial system was designed by AMERICAN LAWYERS…. so of course, it doesn’t work!!!!! LOL LOL

    1. Maybe not public–that’s a bit too Middle East for me. But, definitely enforce the death penalty. The convicted individual gets 1 year to the day to appeal. If they can’t prove their innocence by then, they are executed in the same manner in which they murdered their victim. I’m SICK of these monsters sitting on death row for 30 years, draining taxpayer money!
