A bizarre case out of Perrysburg, Ohio has left a high school community stunned after it was revealed that a 24-year-old man allegedly posed as a 16-year-old student—attending classes, playing sports, and even convincing a local couple to become his guardians.

Anthony Emmanuel Labrador Sierra was arrested on May 19 by Perrysburg police on felony forgery charges after officials discovered he had faked documents, including a birth certificate, to enroll at Perrysburg High School. According to ABC News, Labrador presented paperwork claiming he was born on December 2, 2007, and entered the school in January 2024.

Claiming to be a homeless immigrant from Venezuela, Labrador told school officials he had been trafficked and was seeking protection. The district said he secured a Social Security number, Ohio driver’s license, and even applied for a visa with help from those around him. In March 2024, Kathy and Brad Melfred of Toledo took him in, later becoming his legal guardians.

At school, Labrador blended in without raising suspicion. He participated in swimming and soccer, appeared socially well-adjusted, and was known to his peers as just another teenager.

But everything unraveled on May 14, 2025, when a woman named Evelyn Camacho contacted the Melfreds with explosive claims—she said Labrador was not a teenager, but a 24-year-old man and the father of her child. She reportedly provided photos of the two together, along with images of a driver’s license listing his real birthdate as March 27, 2001.

That tip prompted the Melfreds to notify the school district, which launched an internal investigation. Officials uncovered more social media evidence contradicting Labrador’s story and passed it along to law enforcement.

Authorities then discovered that Labrador had been living in the U.S. on an expired work visa, making his presence in the country unauthorized. He was arrested and arraigned the next day, with a preliminary court hearing scheduled for May 29.

Despite the shocking revelations, district officials said Labrador denied all accusations during a final meeting with the school. He was banned from campus just days before his arrest.

Perrysburg Schools Superintendent Tom Hosler expressed heartbreak over the situation, saying in a statement that the community’s kindness had been exploited.

“This situation is both as troubling as it is heartbreaking,” Hosler said. “Members of our staff and community opened their hearts and homes to someone they believed was a vulnerable teenager who had been abused and needed help.”

Hosler praised the compassion shown by the school and host family, even as the district grapples with the betrayal.

Authorities continue to investigate, but questions remain: What were Labrador’s true intentions—and how did he manage to pull off the deception for so long?

Stay tuned for updates as more details emerge in this jaw-dropping case.
