A Florida woman is facing second-degree murder charges after allegedly shooting her boyfriend and hiding his body in their home for nearly a week—only to later post cryptic religious messages on Facebook as if nothing had happened.
Veanitta Lenon, 37, is accused of gunning down her boyfriend, 46-year-old Jason Bloomfield, on November 23, 2024, and leaving his body under a pile of clothes and blankets inside their home. It wasn’t until a week later, on November 29, that Bloomfield’s 15-year-old son and mother forced their way inside and made the horrifying discovery.
According to the arrest affidavit, Bloomfield had been shot multiple times. His body was badly decomposed by the time it was found.
After allegedly killing him, Lenon attempted to cover her tracks by sending misleading texts from Bloomfield’s phone, creating the illusion that he had simply left town or was with an ex. One of the fake messages to his sister read, “Love you sis going to bed now gotta work in the morning,” which struck her as out of character.
Police say Lenon also sent herself $500 using Bloomfield’s Zelle account and showed up at the scene of the crime driving his BMW. Witnesses claimed she tried to manipulate neighbors into giving her an alibi and warned them not to “snitch.”
When questioned by police, Lenon’s stories allegedly changed several times. First, she said she last saw Bloomfield sleeping. Then she claimed he had kicked her out before Thanksgiving. Finally, she admitted they’d argued—but her version of when it happened shifted from November 28 to November 24, before finally landing on November 23, the day investigators believe the murder occurred.
Police say Lenon also bizarrely rambled about superheroes and Johnny Cash during her interviews and appeared “playful” at times, even while discussing the gruesome death.
But perhaps the most chilling twist came weeks later, when Lenon posted a cryptic message to her Facebook account on December 11—long after Bloomfield’s body had been found and her name had been linked to the crime.
“SATAN GETS BUSY BUT YOU GOTTA KNOW WHEN HES WORKING,” she wrote. “CANT GET ME BUT HE WILL GET GOT MESSING ROUND WITH A ANOINTED CHILD OF GOD.”
Authorities confirmed the Facebook post came from Lenon’s account and included it in court filings as further evidence of her unstable behavior and attempts to mislead.
In addition to second-degree murder, Lenon is also facing charges for fraudulent use of personal identification information of a deceased person. She has pleaded not guilty and is currently being held without bond as she awaits trial.
As more details unfold, one thing is clear: this case is as disturbing as it is twisted—from a body left to rot, to a chilling online sermon, to a woman who prosecutors say played the grieving girlfriend while hiding a deadly secret.
