A bizarre and disturbing scene unfolded at a California Nordstrom Rack this week, where a man was caught on camera allegedly sniffing a woman’s buttocks in the women’s department — and now he’s behind bars.

Burbank police say 38-year-old Calese Carron Crowder was arrested Tuesday, July 22, after someone reported a suspicious man loitering in the women’s section of the store. By the time officers arrived, Crowder had already left — but they didn’t have to go far to find him.

Officers spotted him nearby at a Walmart in the Empire Center shopping plaza and immediately began monitoring his movements using the store’s surveillance system.

According to a press release from the Burbank Police Department, Crowder was observed following a female shopper, crouching behind her, and then “engaging in lewd behavior by inappropriately sniffing her buttocks.”

Crowder was taken into custody and charged with one count of loitering with intent to commit a crime. His bail was set at $100,000, and he’s expected to appear in court on August 1.

As it turns out, this isn’t Crowder’s first brush with the law. Police confirmed he is a registered sex offender with a known history of similar lewd conduct dating back to 2021, including multiple arrests in both Burbank and Glendale.

Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to contact the Burbank Police Department’s Investigations Division at (818) 238-3210.

Meanwhile, shoppers in the area are shaken by the unusual and unsettling behavior — and relieved that officers moved quickly to make the arrest.
