A terrifying domestic attack in a quiet Wisconsin town has left a man seriously injured and his daughter facing attempted murder charges after she allegedly hallucinated he was the devil.
Jamie Anderson, 34, has been charged with first-degree attempted intentional homicide with a dangerous weapon, according to court records. The alleged attack happened in the early morning hours of July 1 at her father’s home in Stoughton, a small town about 20 miles southeast of Madison.
Authorities say Anderson walked roughly 16 miles from her Madison apartment to her father’s house, arriving around dawn and ringing the doorbell.
When her father answered, she reportedly told him she wanted to stop hallucinating—then asked for a hug. Suspicious, he asked her if she was on drugs. That simple question allegedly triggered a violent outburst.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by local outlets WISC and WKOW, Anderson pulled out a knife and tried to stab her father in the head, screaming “I’m going to kill you” as she allegedly slashed at him multiple times. The two struggled inside the home before he managed to shove her over a coffee table and escape.
When police arrived around 6 a.m., they found the victim on the front stoop, bleeding from his arm and clearly shaken.
“She actually came here to kill me,” he reportedly told officers.
Officers later spotted Anderson walking down a stairwell into an alley, still holding the knife. She dropped the weapon when ordered to and was taken into custody without incident.
Police say Anderson admitted to the attack and claimed she was hallucinating that her father was the devil. She also allegedly told them she intended to kill him.
Her father was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, including deep wounds that required staples in his head and surgery on one arm. Despite the brutal assault, he showed compassion when speaking to police, saying, “It’s not her. Her mind is cooked from drugs.”
Anderson remains in custody at the Dane County Jail on $500,000 bail. A no-contact order has been issued to protect her father if she’s released. She’s scheduled to appear in court again on August 5.
