A 43-year-old Illinois woman has been arrested after allegedly giving birth to a child she fathered with a 14-year-old boy — the same teen her own daughter once took to a junior high dance, authorities say.
Robyn Polston, who had chaperoned that dance, was taken into custody Monday and faces multiple charges, including two counts of criminal sexual assault of a minor and two counts of possession of child pornography, according to court records.
The investigation began after Polston gave birth in January 2025. Police reviewing the baby’s birth certificate noticed the child’s name matched the middle and last name of the alleged victim. Polston had initially claimed the father was a man in his twenties named Brian, but a DNA test later confirmed the father was the 14-year-old boy.
According to authorities, the teen had attended the junior high dance with Polston’s daughter in May 2023. He briefly moved away but returned to the area months later, living with a friend’s family. Investigators say phone records revealed sexually explicit photos and videos between Polston and the teen, and that the two used burner phones under fake names. Polston allegedly tried to coerce the boy into helping cover up their relationship.
Prosecutors argued Polston cannot be trusted to avoid contact with the teen, noting that her mother and sister allegedly enabled the relationship. She is being held without bail, and her next court date is set for December 4.
An attorney for Polston did not respond to requests for comment.
