A young Florida deputy lost his life while answering a routine call that turned tragically violent.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Deputy Devin Jaramillo, 27, was shot and killed after responding to a car crash in the Kendall area on Thursday night. Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said Jaramillo was “brutally attacked and murdered” during the incident.
“He gave the ultimate sacrifice — his life — defending us, defending you,” Cordero-Stutz said during a press conference, according to CBS News and WBLT. “We need to understand as a society and as a community that that is just unacceptable.”
Sources told CBS News that a confrontation broke out when Jaramillo arrived at the crash scene, leading to a struggle during which he was shot. The suspect was later found dead from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, though police have not yet released his name. A second person is being questioned in connection with the case.
Outside HCA Florida Kendall Hospital, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue firefighters raised an American flag in Jaramillo’s honor, a solemn tribute to the fallen deputy.
Sheriff Cordero-Stutz remembered Jaramillo as “a valued member of our agency” in a heartfelt post on X. “At just 27 years old, he served our community with professionalism, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others,” she wrote.
“My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and fellow deputies during this difficult time,” the sheriff added. “Deputy Jaramillo’s legacy of integrity, compassion, and courage will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and serving alongside him.”
The investigation into the deadly encounter remains ongoing.

So many up north “losers” move to Florida expecting to find the end of the rainbow. Then what happens is they don’t find the end of the rainbow, they’re still losers and now they hate the world.
And some poor, unsuspecting police officer happens to encounter one of these individuals for some minor thing and gets brutally attacked and loses his life.
