A Texas woman is facing criminal charges after allegedly telling a 9-year-old girl to move her car — a decision that ended in a frightening crash and sent the child to the hospital.
According to Bexar County court records, 25-year-old Ladeja Pickett has been charged with injury to a child and child endangerment. No attorney is listed for her, and it’s unclear if she has entered a plea.
The incident unfolded in San Antonio just after 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. Pickett reportedly told deputies she was decorating her yard for Christmas when she asked the young girl — who is not her daughter — to move a car out of the driveway, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
Pickett also allegedly claimed the child “knew where the keys were” and retrieved them on her own.
According to investigators, once behind the wheel the 9-year-old quickly “lost control of the vehicle” and jumped out moments before it crashed into a neighbor’s truck. She suffered a bad cut on her forehead and road rash on her leg.
The girl’s mother told local station KSAT that her daughter is still hospitalized and recovering. She also insisted that Pickett, described as a family friend, “had no right to hand a minor keys.”
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

Stupidity personified.
Why are these people so dumb? Are they just born that way?
