Chaos at North Carolina Christmas Tree Lighting: 4 Injured in Shooting
A holiday celebration turned terrifying in Concord, North Carolina, when a shooting at a Christmas tree lighting ceremony left four people injured, three in critical condition. The incident happened around 7:30 p.m. Friday on Union Street South, authorities said.
Concord Police, Fire, and Cabarrus County EMS were already on-site and responded immediately, providing medical aid and evacuating attendees. Among the injured were two suspected shooters.
Police identified 18-year-old Nasir Bostic as one of the suspects, who is still in critical condition. Warrants have been issued for his arrest on charges including assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury with intent to kill, and inciting a riot, to be served upon his release from the hospital. The second suspect, a juvenile, was also injured and remains in critical condition.
A third suspect, 17-year-old Keyvyonn Bostic, was charged with accessory after the fact and inciting a riot. He was not injured and was apprehended shortly after the shooting.
Authorities emphasized that the shooting was not random and involved individuals who knew each other. Video footage from the scene shows crowds fleeing in panic after the gunfire erupted.
Concord Police Chief Jimmy Hughes said, “A night of celebration for our community was interrupted by senseless violence, affecting everyone who was there. Due to the quick actions of our downtown businesses, the public, first responders and law enforcement, we were able to quickly evacuate the area, prevent additional injuries and identify all suspects involved.”
Police are not currently looking for any additional suspects, and the motive remains under investigation.
