A disturbing case out of Alabama has led to a mother’s arrest after authorities say two vulnerable teenagers were left in devastating conditions—ending in tragedy.
Amanda Morgan, 39, is now behind bars and facing serious charges, including murder and aggravated child abuse, following the death of her 14-year-old son.
Police were first called to Morgan’s home in Mobile on October 8, 2025, where they discovered the boy dead. According to investigators, the scene inside the home raised immediate concerns.
Months later, after a deeper investigation, Morgan was formally charged.
In court this week, witnesses described what they saw inside the home—and the details are troubling. Testimony revealed the teenagers, both diagnosed with autism, were allegedly left alone for long stretches of time, including overnight.
One witness said the children were often left unsupervised for extended periods.
An autopsy later determined the 14-year-old died from what was ruled accidental strangulation, after he was found with a blanket wrapped around his neck.
But the condition of the home has become a major focus of the case.
According to testimony, the house reportedly had no running water, no air conditioning, and was filled with insects and human waste—conditions authorities say point to severe neglect.
The victim’s older sibling, a 16-year-old, was later hospitalized for malnutrition.
During the bond hearing, a judge ordered that Morgan have no contact with her surviving child.
She is currently being held at the Mobile County Metro Jail on a $400,000 bond for the murder charge and an additional $40,000 for aggravated child abuse.
Morgan is expected to return to court for arraignment on March 24 as the case continues to unfold.
