A Washington state case is taking a dark turn after investigators say they uncovered disturbing evidence tied to a missing woman’s death.
Juan Delgado, 42, is now charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend, 37-year-old Krista Hunt. Authorities say the case began when Hunt was reported missing in early February after last being seen in a rural part of the state.
Family members say her disappearance was immediately concerning.
Her mother told local media that Hunt was last seen days earlier with a man believed to be Delgado after running out of gas near a restaurant. She also claimed her daughter had previously suffered abuse during the relationship.
According to investigators, the case escalated quickly.
When deputies first contacted Delgado, he reportedly claimed he hadn’t heard from Hunt in days—but said he wanted to return her dogs. He also acknowledged the relationship had problems in the past.
Just days later, in a shocking twist, Delgado allegedly shot himself at a bar in town. He survived and later told authorities he “missed” Hunt.
Weeks after she vanished, a body was discovered in the Skagit River. Officials later confirmed the remains belonged to Hunt.
The injuries were severe.
Reports say she suffered a broken neck, jaw, and ribs. Investigators also allege they found clumps of her hair and blood inside Delgado’s truck—evidence that helped lead to the murder charge.
Delgado is currently being held on $1 million bail.
Hunt’s family is now left grieving and searching for answers.
“He stole decades of our lives with her,” her brother said, describing the pain the family is now facing.

Poor Juan. He sounds like he needs a hug. After beating her to death,he now misses her. I guess he is sorry he doesn’t have anyone to beat now.
