Three teens are now facing murder charges after a 16-year-old girl was found stabbed in the street in a shocking killing that has devastated a family and stunned a community in England.
Chloe Watson Dransfield, 16, died after she was found with stab wounds on Kennerleigh Avenue in the Austhorpe area of Leeds at around 6 a.m. on Saturday. She was taken to a hospital, but doctors were unable to save her.
Police said 18-year-old Kayla Smith and 19-year-old Archie Rycroft have both been charged with murder. A 17-year-old boy, who cannot be publicly identified because he is a minor, has also been charged in the case. All three were taken into custody and appeared in court on Tuesday.
The investigation is still unfolding. Authorities said another 18-year-old man remains in custody, while a separate 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl who were also arrested have been released on bail as detectives continue sorting through what happened.
As the case moves through the courts, Chloe’s loved ones are grieving a young girl they say brought joy everywhere she went.
In emotional tributes, her family said they were completely shattered by her death. They described Chloe as beautiful, full of happiness, and blessed with a cheeky personality that made her unforgettable. Her father and relatives said she had her whole future ahead of her and that the emptiness she leaves behind is impossible to measure.
Her mother shared an equally heartbreaking message, calling Chloe her “beautiful princess” and saying she cannot put into words the pain of losing her daughter. She said Chloe lit up every room she entered and that the hole left in her heart can never be filled.
Flowers have been left near the scene as neighbors try to process the violence that erupted on what had been a quiet street. A fundraiser launched by one of Chloe’s relatives had already raised nearly £15,000 ($19,800 USD) by Tuesday morning as friends, family, and supporters rallied around those she left behind.
