A West Virginia woman is now facing serious charges after a newborn in her care suffered fatal injuries in a case that has left investigators stunned.
Taylor Flint, 25, has been charged with child neglect resulting in death following the tragic death of an 11-day-old baby she was supposed to be watching in October 2025. According to prosecutors in Mason County, Flint had been entrusted with caring for the infant while the baby’s mother remained hospitalized due to complications from childbirth.
But what happened during those early morning hours quickly turned deadly.
Authorities say Flint was not only caring for the newborn, but also had her own 3-year-old daughter with her — a child she allegedly knew had a history of aggressive behavior toward the baby.
According to the criminal complaint, Flint discovered the infant unresponsive and called for help. The baby was rushed to the hospital, where doctors found devastating injuries, including trauma to the head, face, and hands, along with a fractured skull and severe brain injuries.
Despite emergency efforts, the baby went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at 4:49 a.m.
When questioned by police, Flint said she had briefly gotten up to use the bathroom and found her daughter hiding in a corner when she returned. She told investigators she believed the toddler had attacked the baby using a jar of petroleum jelly.
Flint also admitted she had previously seen her daughter hit, scratch, and bite the infant, allegedly out of jealousy and a need for attention. She told police she had to be “cautious” when the two were around each other due to her child’s behavior.
Following an investigation, authorities charged Flint on March 26. She is currently being held on a $100,000 cash bond at the Western Regional Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 2.
