A Florida teacher was arrested on allegations he groomed the teen daughter of the woman he was dating.
Daniel Philip Le Lievre, 41, was taken into custody from his Oviedo, Fla. home on Monday, March 30, on sexual offense-related charges, online court records show. Le Lievre was the alleged victim’s teacher during the period of the alleged grooming.
In an arrest report, police allege Le Lievre began dating the girl’s mother in October 2023 and remained involved with each other until early January 2024. During this time, the woman and her children spent considerable amount of time with Le Lievre, spending several nights at his residence.
Authorities allege during this time, Le Lievre groomed the woman’s daughter, then 13-years-old, sexually abusing her on at least one occasion when he followed her to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
He also allegedly taught the girl Morse code and set up “throw away” email accounts so they could communicate with each other “undetected,” per an affidavit. He allegedly had a designated drawer for the child in his classroom desk that had blankets and perfume, and created a bank account and secret phone account for her.
When Le Lievre and the girl’s mother broke up, he allegedly told the woman he “only dated [her] so that he could ‘get closer to her,'” referencing the child.
Le Lievre has been charged with two counts of sexual assault by a custodian of a victim over the age of 12 and under the age of 18, online court records show.
Online records did not indicate his plea information.
