Man Blamed His Dog for Girlfriend’s Horrific Death

A disturbing case out of Texas has ended with a lengthy prison sentence after prosecutors say a man carried out a brutal attack on his girlfriend—and then tried to shift the blame in a shocking way.

Kaleb Mickens, 34, has been sentenced to 40 years behind bars after pleading guilty to aggravated assault in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Sheila Cuevas.

According to authorities, the case began when Mickens called 911 claiming his dog had attacked Cuevas and that she had stopped breathing.

But investigators quickly realized something didn’t add up.

Officials determined the woman’s injuries were far too severe to have been caused by an animal. Prosecutors later revealed she had suffered horrific trauma, including multiple broken ribs and extensive injuries across her body.
