An 18-year-old woman was shot in the chest during a late-night robbery attempt on a New York City subway platform, police said.
The teenager was waiting at the President Street–Medgar Evers College station in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood at around 11:45 p.m. Sunday when a masked man allegedly tried to steal her purse.
Police said the armed suspect opened fire during the attempted robbery, striking the woman in the chest.
Officers rushed her to Kings County Hospital, where she was listed in stable condition and continued recovering.
Investigators later tracked the victim’s bag using a phone signal that pinged near Pacific Street and Utica Avenue, roughly 1.5 miles from the subway station, sources told The New York Post.
The suspect reportedly fled up the station stairs and ran onto the street. He was last seen wearing all-black clothing, a red hat and a black face mask.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
