A Florida man is facing domestic violence charges after police say a series of alleged attacks on his ex-girlfriend ended with him dumping a backpack filled with human waste and other fluids on her.
Daniel Niemiec, 20, has been charged with one count of domestic violence strangulation and two counts of domestic violence battery in connection with multiple alleged incidents at his apartment in Coral Springs.
According to a probable cause affidavit obtained, the woman told police she went to Niemiec’s home on June 2 and had consensual sex with him. During the encounter, she alleged, he began slapping her across the face and continued even after she begged him to stop.
Weeks later, around 1 a.m. on June 30, the woman told police she and Niemiec were arguing when he allegedly began strangling her. According to the affidavit, she said she was left gasping for air when he finally let go. She also alleged that Niemiec was laughing while choking her.
After that alleged attack, the woman went to stay with a friend in Margate, Florida. She returned the next day to collect her belongings, but when she arrived, she allegedly found Niemiec outside his apartment in the parking lot holding her backpack.
Police said the backpack had been filled with feces, urine, ketchup, hot sauce “and other unknown fluids.” Niemiec then allegedly dumped the contents of the bag onto his ex-girlfriend.
Niemiec was later taken into custody, according to the affidavit. Police alleged he admitted to slapping his ex during sex, claiming he had been “testing something new” and that it had “gotten out of hand.”
He also allegedly admitted to strangling the woman, saying he “has anger issues and sometimes cannot control it,” according to the affidavit.
When asked about the backpack, Niemiec allegedly admitted he had relieved himself inside it because he believed it would be “payback for her cheating.” However, he reportedly claimed he had only thrown the bag and “could not recall where the items landed.”
Court records show Niemiec has since posted a $4,000 bond and is out of jail, subject to electronic monitoring and a no-contact order.
It was not immediately clear whether he has entered a plea or retained an attorney.
