A Kentucky middle school teacher has been arrested after authorities say she allegedly had an inappropriate relationship with a minor student in her school district.
Sadie M. Flores, 25, was taken into custody on Aug. 7 and charged with felony grooming of a minor, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
The charge falls under a recently enacted Kentucky law that took effect on July 15, 2026, authorities said.
It is not immediately clear whether Flores has entered a plea or hired an attorney to represent her.
The investigation began after someone reported to the Graves County School District that Flores was allegedly “having an improper relationship with a minor student of the district.”
School officials then turned the matter over to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said they reviewed electronic records, conducted interviews and used other investigative measures before arresting Flores.
Authorities have not publicly disclosed the age of the student involved or released further details about the alleged relationship.
Graves County Schools Superintendent Matt Madding said the district immediately contacted law enforcement after learning about the allegations.
“Because this is an ongoing legal and personnel matter, we are limited in the information we can publicly share,” Madding said.
He added that the district’s top priority is protecting students.
“However, we want to assure our families that the safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority,” he said.
Madding said the district takes any allegation involving a child’s safety or an employee’s professional conduct “extremely seriously” and will continue cooperating with law enforcement and other authorities.
“Our commitment remains to providing every student with a safe, supportive, and effective learning environment,” he said.
The case remains under investigation as Flores faces the felony grooming charge.
