Two men have been arrested in Arizona after allegedly driving six hours to pick up a 17-year-old girl in New Mexico and later continuing to have sex with her even after learning she was underage, according to court documents.
Preston McKee, 22, and Brodie Hester, 21, were arrested by Phoenix police on Aug. 5 and are facing multiple felony counts of sexual conduct with a minor.
According to court records, the men connected with the teenager through a dating app and drove to New Mexico to pick her up. The girl allegedly told them she was 18 at the time.
After arriving in Phoenix, the teenager told investigators she initially had consensual sex with both men.
Authorities said McKee and Hester later discovered her actual age after receiving a call from a New Mexico detective and seeing her state identification.
The men allegedly purchased a bus ticket to send her home, but the teenager returned to their residence after discovering the ticket was for the wrong day.
According to court documents, McKee and Hester then allegedly restrained the girl and took her to a hotel, where investigators say they used bondage-related items before having sex with her again.
The teenager told authorities she was later left in a desert area. She reportedly walked to a nearby Chipotle, where she contacted police.
Hester initially told investigators that he and the girl had only kissed, according to his probable cause statement. Police said he later admitted having sex with her four times, including after learning she was 17.
McKee also allegedly admitted to investigators that he had sex with the girl after discovering she was underage.
The age of consent in Arizona is 18.
Hester is charged with three counts of sexual conduct with a minor and is being held on $250,000 bond. McKee faces two counts and is being held on $200,000 bond, according to court records.
Phoenix police said the investigation began on June 17, when officers were contacted by the teenager.
Police said she reported meeting two men online before being picked up outside Arizona and driven to Phoenix. She told investigators that both men later engaged in sexual conduct with her at a hotel near North 41st Drive.
Authorities said the teenager had no further contact with either suspect after June 17.
McKee and Hester are expected to appear in court on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
