A doctor and mother of three has been found dead inside a home near King Charles III’s Sandringham Estate, prompting a murder investigation and the arrest of a man in his 40s.
Police were called to a property in Dersingham, Norfolk, shortly after 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, after the ambulance service requested assistance.
A woman in her 40s was pronounced dead at the scene.
Norfolk Constabulary said a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody for questioning.
Detectives later obtained additional time to keep him in custody while the investigation continued.
Police have not formally identified the woman.
However, local residents and British media outlets have identified her as Dr. Hannah Terry, also known as Hannah Cain.
Terry worked as a doctor at Grimston Medical Centre and also ran a private aesthetics business.
The home where she was found is less than two miles from Sandringham Estate, the private country residence used by King Charles and other members of the royal family.
There is no indication that the case has any connection to the royal family or the estate.
The property remained cordoned off while detectives and forensic teams continued gathering evidence.
A post-mortem examination was carried out as investigators worked to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
British media reported that Terry was believed to have been hosting a children’s sleepover at the home that night.
Children who were reportedly inside the property were later taken away by authorities.
Police have not publicly confirmed those details.
Neighbors described Terry as a well-liked and caring member of the community.
One resident said she was a devoted mother with three young children and that the area had been left stunned by the news.
Her workplace also temporarily closed following her death.
Grimston Medical Centre said it was dealing with extremely difficult circumstances affecting its staff and apologized to patients for the disruption.
Terry had worked as a doctor for more than 15 years and had experience in several medical fields, including emergency and urgent care.
She also owned Norfolk Sky Aesthetics, where she provided cosmetic treatments.
Detectives from the Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team are leading the case.
Police said they are still working to establish exactly what happened and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
No charges had been announced, and the man arrested remains under investigation.
