The spectacular wedding of Madelaine Brockway, a 27-year-old heiress to the luxury car fortune, captivated millions online.
Celebrated as the “wedding of the century,” the opulent Parisian ceremony was unexpectedly followed by a stark development: within two weeks, Brockway’s groom faced the prospect of a 25-year prison sentence for aggravated assault.
Jacob LaGrone, 29, and Brockway married on Nov. 18 during an extravagant wedding celebration lasting five days in Paris. The couple enjoyed a private Maroon 5 concert, an exclusive lunch at the Chanel Haute Couture Suite, a private boat tour and a lavish rehearsal dinner at the Paris Opera House.
The total bill for the ceremony is estimated at upwards of $59 million, per The Independent. Brockway documented the whole experience via her TikTok account and showed the couple receiving royal treatment on their multiple-day endeavor.
While the ceremonies and luxurious activities gripped several social media users, little knew that just eight months prior, LaGrone was indicted on three counts of aggravated assault on a public servant, which carries a first-degree felony charge in the state of Texas, per The Washington Post.
On Nov. 30, LaGrone appeared at the Tarrant County Courthouse in Fort Worth, where he attended a hearing about the charges for allegedly shooting at three police officers several months ago.
Brockway was reportedly not in attendance at the hearing, according to The Independent.
The alleged incident took place on Mar. 14 when Westworth Village police officers responded to multiple disturbance calls about a gun being discharged at a home. When officers arrived, they were “fired upon” by LaGrone, per the indictment obtained by The Post.
The document included that LaGrone “did intentionally and knowingly threaten imminent bodily injury” against the officers and “did use or exhibit a deadly weapon during the commission of the assault, namely a firearm.”
Any crime against a police officer in Texas that results in serious bodily injury is a first-degree felony, carrying anywhere from five to 99 years or life in prison.
Following the incident, LaGrone was arrested and released on a $20,000 bond, the Dallas Morning News reported. In August, the Tarrant County district attorney’s office offered him a plea bargain of 25 years in prison.
Since his appearance in Tarrant County court on Thursday, Brockway’s TikTok account has been deleted and her Instagram has been made private.
