A Chicago father was gunned down in broad daylight while livestreaming on Facebook, and police are now searching for the shooter.
Kevin Watson, known to friends as “Tugg,” was sitting in his car on West Madison Street in the South Austin neighborhood around 6:14 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, when another vehicle pulled up. According to Chicago police, someone inside pulled out a handgun and opened fire.
The 43-year-old was rushed to a nearby hospital but died from a gunshot wound to the chest, the Cook County Medical Examiner confirmed.
Chillingly, the deadly shooting was captured on Facebook Live. Watson had just left a liquor store and started streaming when the attack unfolded.
Alvin Jackson, a close friend who witnessed the shooting, told ABC 7 Chicago that Watson had been speaking to someone before getting into his car. “He was going to his car, then the guy followed behind him. The guy pulled the gun on him. He was trying to wrestle with the gun, and the gun went off,” Jackson said.
At the scene, Watson’s signature “Tugg” chain was found on the ground, now part of the police investigation.
So far, no suspects have been named, and no arrests have been made.
Watson leaves behind a 7-year-old son, who is now left without his father after the brazen attack.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
