Six human heads were discovered early Tuesday, August 19, on a roadside between the Mexican states of Puebla and Tlaxcala, shocking residents in regions typically considered peaceful, according to the BBC.
Authorities confirmed the victims were men, but no identities or motives have been released. Local outlet La Jornada reported that police were alerted around 6:45 a.m. after a caller reported seeing “what appeared to be a human head” along the road.
Disturbingly, the heads were found in an advanced state of decomposition. One was left beside a banner allegedly linked to a criminal organization called “La Barredora,” or “The Sweeper,” which also accused rivals of committing violent acts in the area.
Officials from the Tlaxcala Attorney General’s Office confirmed that investigative police and forensic experts responded to the scene and launched a full inquiry. They pledged to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
While Puebla and Tlaxcala are not known hotspots for cartel violence, the gruesome discovery follows another recent incident in Sinaloa, where 20 bodies were found — five of them decapitated — hanging from a federal highway bridge, CNN reported.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities vowing to track down those behind this chilling display.
