A 25-year-old woman from Pompano Beach is back behind bars after police say she drugged a man during a night out in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood and stole his Rolex watch, thousands in cash, and more.
Miami police confirmed that Angelina Chenel Esty was arrested Wednesday and is facing charges of burglary of an occupied dwelling and second-degree grand theft between $20,000 and $100,000.
The incident dates back to August 9 at an apartment on 950 Brickell Bay Drive. According to investigators, Esty and another woman met the victim at a downtown bar before heading back to his apartment. Once inside, police say the women allegedly drugged him and made off with his $20,000 Rolex watch, about $4,000 in cash, and a replica Rolex belonging to the victim’s friend valued at $1,000. Authorities also noted that the friend suffered an “unauthorized $500 Cash App transaction” that same night.
Police said surveillance footage from the bar captured the suspects clearly, and the victim later identified Esty in a photo lineup.
This isn’t the first time Esty has been accused of pulling off what investigators are calling “bad date” thefts. Back in May, she was linked to an incident at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel, where she allegedly drugged another man before stealing his $20,000 Rolex Datejust and a $10,000 diamond bracelet. Authorities say fingerprint evidence and video surveillance tied her directly to that case.
Now, with her latest arrest, Esty is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond as the investigation continues.
