A 36-year-old woman in Georgia was arrested after authorities discovered the remains of a 4-year-old girl in the trunk of her car. According to reports, the woman allegedly told her father that she had “hurt” the child and believed the girl was dead.

Jessica Maria Motes was taken into custody over the weekend and charged with concealing the death of a child, according to court records.

Police say Motes’ father spotted her driving her Nissan sedan into the parking lot of a Sam’s Club on Mundy Mill Road in Oakwood, roughly 45 miles northeast of Atlanta, around 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The father reportedly confronted his daughter, and during their conversation, she allegedly admitted to harming the child and said, “I think she is dead.”

After this, the father drove Motes away from the parking lot, but they soon encountered law enforcement. Police responded to the scene and discovered the child’s remains in the trunk of the Nissan, which is reportedly registered to Motes. Authorities have not disclosed the relationship between Motes and the young victim.

Motes was booked into the Hall County Jail late Sunday evening and is currently being held without bond. Details on her next court appearance have not been released.

The investigation was initially handled by the Oakwood Police Department, with assistance later requested from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. Officials have not provided additional information about the case.

  1. I read the woman was going to return the deceased little girl for a refund.
She will be claiming diminished mental capacity as her defense at trial.
