The body of a missing 14-year-old girl in Illinois has been found in a vehicle behind her home, according to reports.

Kylie Toberman was reported missing on Friday, November 14, and tragically, her body was discovered just hours later. Authorities say her body was found in an RV parked behind her home in Vandalia, near St. Louis, Missouri.

Kylie lived with her adoptive mother and two sisters. According to her biological mother, Megan Zeller, the RV belonged to Kylie’s step-uncle, Arnold B. Rivera Jr., 43.

Fayette County Emergency Management initially posted on Facebook that Vandalia Police were searching for Rivera Jr., who was last seen wearing a grey work shirt and blue jeans. Later that day, authorities confirmed he was in custody.

Rivera Jr. has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, aggravated criminal sexual assault, and concealing a homicidal death. He is currently held at Fayette County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday, November 17. The Fayette County Coroner has not released the cause or manner of death, pending further investigation.

Reports indicate that Rivera Jr. has a criminal history, including previous charges in 2000 for burglary and criminal sexual abuse of a child between 9 and 16, which were later resolved through a plea deal.

Kylie attended Vandalia Junior High School, where she was a member of the wrestling team, and also trained at the Vandal Wrestling Takedown Club. The club shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook: “It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that we lost one of our wrestlers, Kylie Toberman, yesterday. Our team and community are grieving the loss of such a sweet and bright young girl.”

Her school also released a statement, expressing deep sadness while keeping details limited out of respect for the family and ongoing investigation: “We recognize that this news is incredibly difficult for students, staff, and families. Our crisis response team and school counselors will be available in the days ahead to offer support. Please join us in keeping the student’s family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers during this tragic and painful time.”
