A 58-year-old Maryland man is facing serious charges after allegedly pointing a gun at a group of 12-year-old girls who were out Christmas caroling the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Anne Arundel County Police say Paul Susie has been charged with first- and second-degree assault, along with several related offenses, following the incident on Saturday night.
Around 8:30 p.m., three 12-year-old girls were going door-to-door singing Christmas carols in the 1700 block of Point No Point Drive in Annapolis. According to charging documents obtained by WTOP, the girls walked up to Susie’s well-lit front stoop, knocked twice, and announced that they were caroling.
Instead of holiday cheer, they allegedly got a gun pointed at them.
Police say Susie was standing inside his home looking out a bay window when he pointed a firearm at the girls. Officers arrived shortly after and took him into custody. According to the documents, Susie admitted to the confrontation and told police he had consumed at least one alcoholic drink.
Investigators recovered a .40-caliber Glock handgun from the home. Although Susie had a permit for the firearm, he was additionally charged with handling a handgun while under the influence.
Annapolis, the capital of Maryland, sits along the Chesapeake Bay and is about 30 miles east of Washington, D.C. The charges against Susie remain pending as the investigation continues.
