An 11-year-old Nevada boy was tragically killed in an alleged road rage incident that turned deadly on a busy freeway.

Brandon Dominguez was riding in the back seat of an SUV driven by his stepfather on Nov. 14 when the SUV became involved in a confrontation with another vehicle, Henderson Police Department Chief Reggie Rader said. The drivers of the two cars were reportedly “jockeying for position” as they tried to pass each other in congested traffic.

The other car, a sedan, was driven by Tyler Johns. According to police, one of the vehicles attempted to pass on the shoulder, and the two drivers began arguing. Authorities say Johns then allegedly pulled out a gun and fired into the SUV, striking Brandon.

Brandon’s stepfather reportedly rammed Johns’ car to stop him from fleeing. Court records show that Johns has been charged with one count of open murder with a deadly weapon enhancement, as well as two weapons charges. It’s not yet clear if he has entered a plea.

In a GoFundMe created by his family, Brandon was remembered as “truly one of a kind” with a “silly, playful spirit that could make any of us smile” and a “heart full of pure joy.” The fundraiser says he loved soccer, playing Roblox, dancing, and sharing the latest TikTok trends with his family.
