An armed thief posing as a delivery worker pulled off a stunning early-morning heist in San Francisco, tying up a homeowner and stealing a cellphone, laptop, and a staggering $11 million in cryptocurrency, according to a police report obtained by the San Francisco Chronicle.

The break-in happened around 6:45 a.m. Saturday in the Mission Dolores neighborhood. Police say the impostor ditched the delivery act almost instantly, pulling out a gun and restraining the victim with duct tape before grabbing the electronics and accessing the digital fortune.

It’s still unclear whether the homeowner was injured, and police haven’t said whether they’ve identified or arrested a suspect. The San Francisco Police Department declined to comment when contacted by The Post.

This dramatic robbery is part of a growing pattern targeting crypto holders. Criminals have increasingly resorted to kidnappings, break-ins, and violent threats to force victims to hand over passwords or transfer digital assets.

In March, burglars attempted to steal cryptocurrency from influencer Kaitlyn Siragusa, better known as Amouranth, who earns millions monthly from OnlyFans and Twitch. And in May, two self-described crypto enthusiasts were accused of kidnapping and torturing an Italian millionaire in a New York City townhouse while trying to force him to reveal his Bitcoin credentials.

Experts say the surge isn’t surprising. Unlike cash, cryptocurrency can be tougher to trace and easier for criminals to move around. Steve Krystek, CEO of security firm PFC Safeguards, previously warned that many new crypto millionaires make themselves targets by flaunting their wealth.

“Kidnappings of crypto investors are definitely on the rise,” he said. “A lot of the people who come into this money are flashy, and they’re signaling that they have wealth.”

As digital fortunes grow, so does the real-world risk. This latest San Francisco heist is another stark reminder that crypto wealth can draw dangerous attention.
