A North Carolina cop learned the hard way that late-night cravings and alcohol don’t mix. Off-duty Officer James Garlanda Reagan apparently wanted a McDonald’s run after a night out—but he never made it past the drive-thru.
Around 12:30 a.m. Sunday, patrons at a Belmont McDonald’s noticed a car stalled in the drive-thru lane. The driver? Reagan, who had passed out behind the wheel while trying to get his snack. Police were called, and when they arrived, they found the 44-year-old officer asleep in his car.
A field investigation determined that Reagan was driving under the influence. He was arrested and charged with DWI, and has been placed on administrative leave while the department investigates further. Police Chief Boyce Falls emphasized that officers are expected to uphold a high standard on and off duty, and anyone who falls short will be held accountable.
As for the McDonald’s run? Let’s just say it’s one meal Reagan won’t be enjoying anytime soon. The takeaway here: if you’re hungry after a night out, call an Uber—or stick to Taco Bell. It’s much safer than risking a DWI.

I wonder how many he charged with DUI.I think it is getting very hard to get responsible workers everywhere. The last good ones are in my generation and I am 84
