Peter Abbott, 62, who made headlines last year for a viral outburst in a Tesco car park, has found himself behind bars again, this time after a shocking confrontation on a beach promenade in Bournemouth. Abbott, who was banned from driving due to his previous road rage incident, was caught on camera in December 2023 having an explosive argument with a woman walking with her newborn baby and her dog.

Abbott, clad in lycra and riding a bicycle, collided with the woman’s dog, which was off-lead, sparking an angry exchange. According to witnesses, the incident quickly escalated into a full-blown tirade. Abbott shouted expletives at the woman, swearing at several others who tried to intervene, and even threatened to assault them.

One of the people who recorded the altercation captured Abbott screaming, “Shut the f*** up or I’ll kick you up the a***,” and challenging bystanders to fight him. When one man told Abbott he should watch where he was cycling, Abbott’s fury escalated, and he continued to shout at the public. The confrontation left the mother terrified, with her describing Abbott’s behavior as “pure rage.”

The incident was a violation of Abbott’s suspended prison sentence from a previous outburst, where he was caught on camera attacking a woman in a Tesco car park in August 2023. In that incident, Abbott was filmed banging on a car window and shouting vile insults at the driver, which led to a suspended prison sentence and an anger management course.

Abbott’s latest beachside outburst violated the terms of his suspended sentence, leading to his imprisonment for six weeks. District Judge Orla Austin expressed concern about Abbott’s repeated outbursts, stating, “This is another episode of rage taken out on the public,” and emphasizing that Abbott’s actions were unacceptable, particularly with children and families present.

Defending Abbott, his lawyer explained that Abbott had been struggling with loneliness and isolation, and while he had completed his anger management course, his behavior was a result of frustration. However, the judge noted that Abbott’s actions were a clear violation of the terms of his previous sentence, stating that he could not simply take out his anger on the public.

Abbott was sentenced to six weeks in jail and ordered to pay £85 in prosecution costs. Despite his claims of attempting to manage his anger, the court found that his behavior warranted immediate consequences.

  1. Too bad none of the bystanders weren’t black!! Not that a black would have intervened…
But Mitch Abbott would have gotten his a-z handed to him.
