An Ohio woman pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including four counts of murder and one count of felonious assault, on December 19. Rebecca Auborn, 36, of Columbus, entered the plea in Franklin County Common Pleas Court, where she is scheduled to be sentenced on February 20, 2026.

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost called the case a “tough” one but noted that the investigation, led by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the Columbus Police, left little doubt that a conviction was imminent. “When law enforcement works together, there’s hope for families to secure justice,” Yost stated in a press release.

Auborn’s crimes were part of a disturbing pattern of preying on men in northeast Columbus. She met victims through arrangements for sex, then drugged them in order to rob them. Investigators linked her to at least four overdoses and robberies between January and June 2023. One man also survived an overdose attempt in December 2022, connected to Auborn, according to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office.

The victims were identified as Wayne Akin, 64; Robert Snoke, 54; Joseph Crumpler, 30; and Guy Renda Jr., 42. A family member of one of the victims, Wayne Akin, expressed relief that the case was drawing to a close, telling NBC News, “I’ve spent two years preparing for the worst, and now it’s almost over. The grieving process can finally begin.”

Auborn was described as a “serial killer” by Yost in 2023. Yost, speaking to The Dispatch, explained his reasoning: “If you’ve got somebody that has a series of killings that are separated in time, they’re a serial killer. We have the same MO here.”

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the Columbus Division of Police. Auborn faces a sentence of up to 69 years to life in prison. The Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office is handling the prosecution.
