A North Carolina man is facing serious charges after allegedly firing a shotgun at an Amazon delivery driver who mistakenly pulled into his driveway — with her teenage son sitting beside her.
Sidney Pittman, 23, has been charged with discharging a weapon into an occupied property and injury to personal property. Authorities say the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 in Richmond County, when Tashika Trimble, a seasonal Amazon delivery driver, was following GPS directions and accidentally drove to the wrong address.
According to local reports, Trimble pulled into Pittman’s driveway and briefly spoke with him after he came to the door and told her she had the wrong house. She then backed out and began to leave.
That’s when investigators say Pittman allegedly fired a shotgun at her car as she drove away.
Trimble later described the terrifying moment at a rally with local civil rights activists. She said GPS led her into the driveway and that her 16-year-old son, who was with her for the delivery, noticed people inside the home and urged her not to get out of the car.
After confirming the address was wrong, Trimble said she put the car in drive — and then heard a shot.
“I hear little pricks hitting the car,” she recalled, saying she didn’t immediately know where the gunfire was coming from. She said her son begged her to keep driving, and she did just that.
Despite the scare, Trimble said she went on to complete the delivery.
Sheriff’s deputies responded the next day, questioned Pittman at his home, and arrested him. Investigators say they recovered the shotgun allegedly used in the shooting.
Authorities also said they are looking into alleged racist comments Pittman may have posted on social media after the incident, though those posts have not been independently verified.
Pittman was booked into the Richmond County Jail and later released after posting a $200,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 8, 2026.
