Three mothers were killed in a devastating single-vehicle crash in England just days before Christmas, leaving families and an entire community in mourning.

The fatal collision happened in the early hours of December 13, when a blue BMW carrying four women left the roadway near the city of Leicester, about 100 miles north of London. According to a statement from the Leicestershire Police, officers were called to the scene around 1 a.m. after the vehicle crashed along the citybound carriageway between Thrussington and Sileby.

Two of the women were publicly identified by police on December 18. Bhamini Karsan, 42, was remembered by her family as a loving and devoted mother, wife, and daughter with a warm, bubbly personality. Neeru Patel, also 42, was honored in a tribute that said her values and kindness live on through her two children.

The third victim was later identified as Virashi Chauhan, 39, according to reporting by the BBC. Chauhan was described by loved ones as a beloved wife, devoted mother, and cherished daughter.

A fourth woman who was traveling in the car survived but suffered minor injuries. Police said she was the one who called emergency services following the crash.

Patel’s family shared a deeply emotional statement, saying she lived a life rooted in love, compassion, and quiet faith, always devoted to caring for others. Though she is gone, they said, her spirit and values remain alive through her children and in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

Karsan’s family echoed similar sentiments, describing her as deeply loved and cherished not only by her family but by friends and the wider community. They also asked for privacy as they grieve during what they described as an extremely difficult time.

An inquest into the deaths was opened on January 7 by coroner Sophie Lomas, according to Leicestershire County Council. Autopsies were completed within a week of the crash, and the hearing has been adjourned until July 22.

Police confirmed that a 37-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. She was later released under investigation as inquiries continue.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the car to leave the roadway. Authorities have asked anyone who was driving in the area at the time to review dashcam footage that could help shed light on the moments leading up to the crash.
