Suspect Arrested After Three Women are Found Dead in Shocking Triple Homicide

Authorities in Utah have arrested a suspect after three women were found dead in a disturbing case that began with the discovery of two bodies along a hiking trail.

The Utah Department of Public Safety said the investigation began Wednesday afternoon, March 4, when dispatchers received a call about two deceased women found on a trail in the area. As investigators began searching for answers, they made another grim discovery.

During the investigation, authorities located a third woman dead inside a home in Wayne County.

Officials confirmed the case is being treated as a suspected triple homicide.

The identities of the victims have not yet been released as authorities work to notify their families. Investigators did say one victim was in her 30s, another in her 60s, and the third in her 80s.

Early the next morning, the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office announced that a suspect had been captured.

According to investigators, the suspect was tracked after authorities began searching for a 2022 white Subaru Outback believed to belong to one of the victims. The vehicle was followed across multiple states as the investigation unfolded.

Officials say the car was traced through southern Utah, then into northern Arizona, before eventually being located in Colorado.

Law enforcement in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, found the vehicle abandoned. After a short search, officers located the suspect nearby and took him into custody without incident.

Investigators say there are no additional suspects and no ongoing threat to the public.

Meanwhile, crime scene teams from the Utah State Bureau of Investigation and the Utah Crime Lab are processing two separate locations connected to the case in the Lyman and Torrey areas.

Authorities have not yet revealed how the women died or whether the victims were connected to one another.

While the suspect was still at large earlier in the investigation, officials urged residents in Torrey and surrounding communities to stay alert, lock their doors, and report any suspicious activity.

Out of caution, the Wayne County School District canceled classes for the rest of the week as the investigation unfolded.

The quiet rural region where the killings occurred sits near several well-known national parks, including Canyonlands National Park and Capitol Reef National Park.

The investigation remains ongoing.
