A former Indiana substitute teacher accused of sending nude photos to a 14-year-old middle school student has learned her fate.
FOX19 reported, citing court records, that Cassidy Carter pleaded guilty to one count of battery resulting in moderate bodily injury and was sentenced to two years in jail. The station reported that she received two days of jail credit.
Carter was originally charged with child solicitation after she was accused of sending nude photos of herself to a 14-year-old student while she was a substitute teacher for the South Dearborn School Corporation, FOX19, WLWT and WKRC previously reported.
Dearborn County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens told FOX19 the child solicitation charge was amended because the victim no longer lives in the area and wanted no part in the case.
According to a criminal complaint cited by FOX19, WLWT and WKRC, Carter, who was 21 at the time of the alleged offense, became friends with the student on Snapchat around the beginning of November 2023.
The student told a school resource officer about the alleged messages on Dec. 1, 2023, prompting an investigation, per the outlets.
The teen told investigators Carter sent him nude photos of herself every time she took a shower, often late at night, and told him she was in love with him, according to the complaint.
Investigators later examined the student’s phone and found multiple messages and nude photographs of Carter, the outlets reported, citing court documents.
Court documents cited by WLWT and WKRC state Carter worked as a substitute teacher at South Dearborn Middle School from early September through mid-November 2023.
