A domestic dispute in Philadelphia turned deadly when an 11-year-old boy allegedly shot and killed his mother’s boyfriend after witnessing a violent confrontation, according to police.
Authorities identified the victim as 30-year-old Jaimeer Jones-Walker. Police say the shooting happened Thursday during an argument between Jones-Walker and his girlfriend inside the woman’s home.
According to local reports, the fight reportedly began over visitation issues involving the couple’s newborn baby. The situation escalated when the argument allegedly became physical.
Investigators say the woman’s 11-year-old son was inside the home when the confrontation unfolded. Police believe the boy witnessed Jones-Walker assaulting his mother in her bedroom.
During the incident, the child allegedly grabbed a firearm and fired a single shot, striking Jones-Walker in the face.
Jones-Walker was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities said the gun used in the shooting was legally registered to the boy’s mother.
Both the woman and her son remained at the home after the incident and cooperated with investigators when police arrived. The boy was later taken to stay with another family member while authorities continued their investigation.
Neighbors told local reporters that arguments between the couple were not uncommon.
“I would hear arguing and fighting, but that’s nothing new with them,” neighbor Shyreea Blocker told NBC Philadelphia. “It’s a shame. It shouldn’t be like that.”
Another neighbor, Gilbert Blocker, said he worries about the emotional toll the situation will have on the young boy.
“The things he’s going to suffer in his heart, if he has any feelings, is going to last him not just now but for the rest of his life,” he said.
Authorities have not announced any arrests, and it remains unclear whether the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office will file charges as investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Let me guess Jaimeer is/was a black POS who has been an abuser of this woman, and her son did everyone a favor and got rid of him.
You sure can’t punish an 11 year old for protecting his mother and I am asumeing he is the shooter .
