A Michigan school worker is facing child abuse charges after police say she lost her temper and violently slammed a nonverbal 13-year-old student into a window.
Robin Popour was charged over the disturbing incident at the Delta Schoolcraft Intermediate School District Learning Center near Escanaba, Michigan, according to local reports.
Authorities say the situation began when the student made pinching motions toward Popour and eventually pinched her hand. That is when witnesses told police she allegedly snapped.
According to reports citing the police investigation, Popour screamed at the boy just inches from his face before allegedly grabbing him by the shoulders and slamming him into a window.
The shocking moment was reportedly witnessed by three other aides in the room.
A teacher then stepped in, and Popour left the classroom. But what she allegedly said next made the situation even more disturbing.
Two aides told police that Popour said, “I don’t give a f— if I left marks on him,” and “I don’t care if I got him. He deserved it.”
The police report also reportedly revealed an earlier warning sign. Before the alleged assault, one aide said she heard Popour say, “If that kid touches me, I will f—ing hit him back.”
The school district has since fired Popour.
Superintendent Kristina Hansen said the former employee failed to meet the professional, safety, and conduct standards required by the district and acted outside official policy, procedures, and training.
It is not yet clear whether Popour has entered a plea.
